PHOENIX, ARIZ. - Edna Marie Behrends, wife of George Behrends of Yuma, Ariz. and former Monticello residents, died Dec. 18 at St. Luke's hospital in Phoenix following an illness of several months.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from St. Matthew Lutheran church in Monticello with the Rev. Anton Kirkegaard officiating. Burial was made at Oakwood cemetery.

Mrs. Behrends was born Feb. 11, 1904 at Van Horne, the daughter of Harry Bradbrook and Kathryn E. Bachman. She attended the Benton county schools. On Feb. 27, 1927, she was married to George Behrends of Monticello. They made Monticello their home until 1944 when they moved to Cedar Rapids. In 1948 they moved to Huron, S.D. and lived there until Mrs. Behrends health became so poor they moved to Yuma, Ariz. She was a member of the American Lutheran church at Huron, S.D.

Survivors include her husband George Behrends, Yuma, Ariz.; four daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Elaine) Townsend of Marion, Ohio, Mrs. Lloyd (Gaylene) Bokman of Yuma, Yvonne Behrends of Harrisburg, S. D. and Mrs. LeRoy (Janann) Gunderson of Webster, S.D.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Alva Behrends of Monticello.

Pallbearers included Paul Behrends, Lyle Behrends, Loren Freese, Bennie Tobiason, Charles Bachman and Leonard Wilson.
