20 March 1947 - The Anamosa Journal

James Bernard Rhatigan, 64, former Anamosa resident, died Wednesday at 3:35 a.m. in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids. He had been ill a year.

Funeral service will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic church, Anamosa. Rev. J. A. McMahon will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery.

Friends may call at the McNamara Funeral home, Anamosa.

Mr. Rhatigan was born in Jones county March 3, 1883, son of Edmund and Laura Rhatigan. He was married in 1914 to Esther Rogers, Prairieburg. He was a carpenter by trade and worked both in Prairieburg and Anamosa communities.

Previous to his illness he made his home at Waubeek. He was a member of St. Patrick's church, Anamosa.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Thelma O'Conner and Mrs. Ethel Coinstein, both of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Tom Rhatigan, Anamosa, and Philip Rhatigan, Madison, Wis., and three sisters, Mrs. Julia Dibble, Pocotella, Idaho, Mrs. Mary Fitzsimmons, Monticello, and Mrs. Frank Marek, Marion.
