MONTICELLO - Loyd R. Thomas, 72, died Oct. 2 from a cardiac failure at his home in Monticello. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. from Goettsch Funeral home with the Rev. Howard Eldrenkamp officiating. Burial was at Oakwood cemetery.

Born Aug. 19, 1893, at Harrisburg, Ill., he was the son of Jasper and Katie Tuttle Thomas. He served in World War I. On July 2, 1921, he was married to Hazel Thomas of Monticello. He lived in the Monticello community throughout their marriage. They were later separated.

Surviving are two sons, Raymond of Arleta, Calif. and Lewis of Encino, Calif.; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one step-daughter Mrs. James (Frances) Hughes of Scotch Grove.
