OLIN - Funeral services for Mrs. John (Ethel) Gordon, 73, were held Feb. 9 in the EUB church with the Rev. Lloyd Dutro officiating. Interment was in the Olin cemetery.

Mrs. Gordon died Feb. 6 at Community hospital in Anamosa following a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 25, 1890 in Kansas, the daughter of Louis and Myrtle Murphy Maple.

She spent her early years in Kansas and then moved with her family to Nebraska, where she completed her education. She was married to John Gordon at Graf, Nebr., on Sept. 6, 1911.

In 1918 they moved to the Olin community where they farmed for several years. They operated an implement and hardware store in Olin.

She was a member of the EUB church and the Ladies Aid Society, Altruist club and Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include her stepson, Maynard Gordon of Olin; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Emmet Maple of Husmanville, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Fast of Burlingame, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild, a brother and a sister.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Guhl, Kenneth Zimmerman, Willard Houstman, Arno Lawson, Edmund Sealls and Dale Groth.
