OLIN - Paul Groth, 77, Olin, died Wednesday, May 20, at his home west of Olin.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Olin. Rev. John R. Schlosser, officiated, assisted by Rev. George Gaide, Fairbank. Interment was in the Olin cemetery. Hayden Funeral home, Olin, was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Geralyn Schladetzky was organist.

Pallbearers included Dale Groth and Willard Houstman, Olin; Harry Pegorick, Oxford Junction; Dale Willits, Muscatine; Raymond Kennedy, Walcott; and Gaylord Rasmussen, DeWitt.

He was born Aug. 26, 1886, son of Henry and Marie Ludeman Groth, near Bennett in Cedar county. While a child he moved with his family to a farm near Stanwood, and at the age of 15, he moved to the farm west of Olin, where he has lived for the last 62 years.

He farmed first with is parents, then by himself, then with his son, Floyd, and of late years with his grandson, Alan.

He was married to Frances Benischek, Oxford Junction, on Aug. 5, 1909. He was a member of the Methodist church, Olin.

Survivors include three daughters, Alice, Mrs. Carl Laetare, Olin; Helen Laetare, Hale; and Clarice, Mrs. Bill Kell, Olin; two sisters, Hannah, Mrs. Van Roden, Bradenton, Fla.; and Matilda, Mrs. Bill Oldorf, Anamosa; a brother, Alfred, Olin.

A daughter-in-law, Helen Groth; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; two sisters, his wife; and a son, Floyd.
