SPRINGVILLE - George Clarence Gauch, Springville, former resident of Anamosa, died Thursday, April 2, at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 4, at 1:30 p.m., at the Hunte chapel, Springville. Rev. William Biedermann conducted the service. Interment was in Cedar Memorial cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
He was born Aug. 15, 1900, son of George and Caroline Schnare Gauch, New Athens, Ill. Oct. 22, 1922, he was married to Esther Brandt. Couple made their home in Anamosa and Waterloo where Mr. Gauch operated a garage, before retiring in Springville.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. James A. Bender, Monticello; a son, Boyd Brandt, Wyoming; a sister, Mrs. Katie Skaer, Belleville, Ill.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth D. Brandt; four sisters and a brother.
