ARNOLD L. "ARNIE" ALLAMAND Scotch Grove
Arnold L. "Arnie" Allamand, 73, of Scotch Grove, Iowa, passed away March 8, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, at St. Patrick in Anamosa, Iowa, with the Rev. Nick March officiating. Military honors will follow Mass accorded by American Legion Post 13. Masks and social distancing will be required. If you're not feeling well or are unable to attend, Funeral Mass will be live on Kramer Funeral Home Facebook Page and will be available to view any time after Friday. Arnold was born Sept. 24, 1947, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Erma (Joslin) Allamand. He married Mary Bonert on Feb. 8, 1969, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, Iowa. After graduating from Anamosa High School, Arnie served in the U.S. Army from 1966-68 in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Monticello American Legion Post 260 and Anamosa American Legion Post 13. Arnie worked many years in construction until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Arnie loved his time with family, especially his granddaughter, Madison. Arnold is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Kathy (Jim) Wilgenbusch of Peosta; granddaughter, Madison Wilgenbusch; sister, Roma Joslin of Palmer, Alaska; and in-laws, Patty Bonert of Farley, Ron (Gail) Bonert of Dyersville, Steve (Jane) Bonert of Hopkinton and Denise Allamand of Marion. He is preceded in death by his son, Mark; his parents; parents-in-law, Leo and Rita Bonert; sisters, Pamela, Polly VandenBerg, Mary Husmann and Donna Peterman; brothers, Lenny, Everett and Larry; in-laws, Betty and Frosty Smith, Carl Bonert and Jerome Bonert; and a nephew, Corey Bonert. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to American Cancer Society. Arnie's family would like to thank the staff of Above & Beyond for the care and support they gave to him.
