MONTICELLO - Charles Albert Schneider, 75, died at the Veteran's hospital in Knoxville, Sunday afternoon, Oct. 13, following a long illness.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Goettsch funeral home with the Rev. Gerald E. Shibley officiating. Burial was at Oakwood cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the drill team of the Monticello VFW and American Legion.

"Chubby" as he was known by his friends and acquaintances, was born May 5, 1888 in Monticello, the son of Gottfried and Lelia Ellen Schneider. He attended the Monticello schools and served with the U.S. combat forces during World War I overseas. He returned to Monticello and has made his home here since.

He is survived by one brother, Ben of Monticello, and two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Helen) Cole and Mrs. Charles (Grace) Goarke, both of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
