February 28, 1946 - The Anamosa Journal

Mrs. Elmer Kline, 68, died at her home in Anamosa about 7:30 o'clock Thursday morning following a long illness. Body is at Smykil Home for Funerals pending funeral arrangements.

Surviving are her husband and two children, Mrs. Archie (Helen) Frasher, Martelle, and Alvin Kline, Anamosa.

Funeral service for Mrs. Elmer Kline, 66, who died last Thursday morning at her home in Anamosa following several several weeks illness, was held Saturday at the Smykil Home for Funerals. Rev. Edgar E. Walker, jr., of the Methodist church, was the officiating pastor. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Blanch, Maurice Fay, Sam Knapp, Robert McDaniel, Roy Russell and Carl Tjaden. Miss Francis Steffen and Mrs. Paul Smith sang for the funeral service, accompanied by Mrs. Glenn Russell.

Lucy Hannah Baker, daughter of John Edward and Anna Mary Baker, was born at Iron Hill, Iowa, July 29, 1880. She was united in marriage to Elmer L. Kline, Jan. 27, 1909, at Mechanicsville, Iowa. Three children were born to this marriage: a son who died at birth; Alvin L., Anamosa, and Helen, (Mrs. Archie Fraser) Martelle.

Mrs. Kline attended a rural school near Iron Hill, and the Maquoketa schools during her early girlhood.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Kline lived in South Dakota for seven years, and in Minnesota for nine years. Rest of her life, Mrs. Kline lived in Iowa, and for the last 17 years has been a member of the Anamosa community. She was a member of the Woman's society of Christian service of the Methodist church, Anamosa.

In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by five sisters: Mrs. Rosa Ackerman, Anamosa; Mrs. Will Benjamin, Rice Lake, Wis.; Mrs. Leitha Tompkins, Clinton; Mrs. Nettie Amundsen, Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Edna Ohlsen, Olin, and by three grandchildren: Duane L. and Donald E. Fraser and Daine M. Kline.
