Funeral service for Mrs. Donald D. Meeks, 29, Martelle, who died at a Cedar Rapids hospital Friday afternoon, was held Monday afternoon. Rev. T. Baskerville, New Hartford, was the officiating minister, assisted by Dean A. R. King, Mount Vernon.

Pallbearers were cousins of the deceased: Clarence Soboda, Leo, Willard and John Mallie, and Ivan and Robert Duncan. Delbert Richardson sang, accompanied on the piano by Miss June Richardson. Mrs. Plummer also provided music. Interment was made in the Mount Vernon cemetery. Loder Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Bernice Mallie was born near Mount Vernon Jan. 16, 1916, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Mallie. She attended the country school near her home and the Mount Vernon high school.

Sept. 22, 1937, she was united in marriage with Donald D. Meeks, and the new home was established three miles east of Martelle where they continued to live. Two children, Howard David, seven years, and Barbara Lou, 21 months, were born to the union.

Surviving besides her husband and children are her parents, two brothers, Marvin, Mechanicsville, and Lloyd at home; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Sproston, Viola; Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Meeks and the Merle Meeks family, many uncles, aunts and cousins.

She was a member of the Martelle Methodist church, the Women's society of Christian service, and was recently elected leader of the 4-H girls club in Greenfield township.
