Funeral service for William H. McDaniel, 62, was held Saturday at the Goettsch Funeral home in Monticello.

William Henry McDaniel, son of Calvin R. and Laura Bird McDaniel, was born at Wapello, Ia., Jan. 28, 1883, and died at the John McDonald hospital in Monticello, Feb. 8.

While still a small boy the family moved to Muscatine and here very early in his life, he lost his mother by death.

Feb. 3, 1917, he was united in marriage to Edith Mae Morrison, at Waterloo, Ia. Mr. and Mrs. McDaniel made their home in Fort Dodge. For a time Mr. McDaniel served as deputy sheriff, both in Waterloo and in Ft. Dodge. Later he became a contractor, specializing in road construction.

McDaniel came to Monticello in 1928, settling on a farm just north of town. Later they moved to what is known as the Hanna farm, where they have made their home for some years.

Surviving besides Mrs. McDaniel are two brothers: Donald, Muscatine, and George L., Washington, Ia. A sister died five years ago, and several brothers died in infancy. Nephew and a niece live in Washington and two nephews live in Muscatine.
