OXFORD JUNCTION - Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon in the Methodist church for Vit Benhart, 43. The Rev. F. J. Abele, Lowden, conducted the service. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Fred Lasack, Mrs. Fred Sacora and Miss Earline Huston, with Mrs. G. J. Bees, pianist. Flowers were in charge of three nieces, Betty Benhart, Patricia Benhart and Marilyn Andre. Those serving as pallbearers were Frank, Charles, Otto, Louis, Ed and Fred Benhart. Interment was in Mayflower cemetery.

Vit Benhart was found dead Wednesday evening of a heart attack. He had been picking corn on the William Quirk farm. He had been finishing up what had been left by the corn picker, and when he did not come in for supper, the housekeeper called Ray Mowry, a neighbor, who went to the look for him, and found him in the wagon in the field, where apparently he had been able to get when he became ill. Team of mules had not moved from where he had been working.

He was born near Oxford Junction June 3, 1902, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Benhart, and had always lived here. For the last two years he had been driving the freight route between Oxford Junction and Cedar Rapids and to Davenport, but because of his health he quit that work several months ago. He is survived by his mother, two brothers, Joe, Oxford Junction, and Albert, Davenport; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Matyka, Chicago; Mrs. Anna Dolezal, Monmouth; and Mrs. Frances Andre, Toronto.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. Mary Matyka, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Benhart and daughter, Patricia, Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dolezal, Monmouth; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Andre and daughter, Marilyn, Toronto; and Pvt. Joe Michalek, Galesburg, Ill.
