Funeral service for Nathan E. Carter, 72, who died Thursday, May 10, at his home in Anamosa, was held Sunday afternoon at the Loder Funeral Home, Rev. Homer E. Dalrymple of the Congregational church officiating. Burial was made in the Olin cemetery. Pallbearers were Roland Dasenbrock, Milton Cheshire, Stanley Waggoner, L. F. Bramer, Early Byerly and John Albers.

Nathan Elmer, son of James and Rhoda Carter, was born in Jackson township May 27, 1873. He lived on the same farm for 63 years until he moved to Anamosa 10 years ago.

Dec. 2, 1896, he was married to Elva E. Hay, who survives. Other survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Ida Stivers, Olin; Mrs. Mellisa Ballou, Olin, and Mrs. Florence Starry, Des Moines; nine nieces and nephews.

Two brothers died in infancy and son, William F. Carter, died in 1943 in California. Two sisters, Mrs. Olay Blayney and Mrs. Barbara Gordon died in 1901 and 1936.
