20 July 1944 - The Anamosa Journal

OXFORD JUNCTION - Robert Peckosh, 18 year old son of Postmaster and Mrs. Frank Peckosh, Oxford Junction, died Wednesday evening, July 12, in the Mercy hospital at Anamosa, of a cerebral hemmorage. He had been ill but a day, and his death came as a shock to the community where he was born on March 26, 1926.

He graduated from the Oxford Junction high school in 1943, and had been called into the service of the U.S. Navy to report July 20. He was a member of the Sacred Heart church, and of Boy Scout troop No. 62.

Funeral service was held Saturday morning at 9:30 from the Sacred Heart church, with the Rev. Joseph Gregor in charge assisted by Rev. Loras Holmberg, Anamosa. Guard of honor from the Boy Scouts had charge of the flowers, and two schoolmates, Seamen Leslie Meade and Merlin Latare, who were home on leave, served as color bearers.

Pallbearers were John Pegorick, Arnold Zaruba, Ronald Meade, Peter Bahnsen, Junior Koranda, and Clifford Close. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

He is survived by his parents and a sister Rita.
