OXFORD JUNCTION - Last rites were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the late home and at 2:30 at the Hayden funeral home for Fred C. Close, 65, who died Wednesday morning at his home here of an attack of heart disease.

The Reverend Fred C. Maurer had charge of the service. Hymns were sung by Mrs. A. E. Hodavol, Mrs. Louis Ingwersen and Mrs. Palmer Vaughn, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Ernest Schwab. They sang "Jesus Whispers Peace," "In the Garden" and "Jesus is so Wonderful." Pallbearers were Henry Ott, Fred Wasoba, George Yarolim, Emile Burian, Frank Nowachek and Sam Carrington. Interment was in the cemetery at Wyoming.

Fred Close was born at Wyoming, Sept. 27, 1878, son of J. C. and Catherine Close. He was united in marriage to Laura Louis Field, Wyoming, April 28, 1910. He always made his home in Wyoming until nine years ago when the family moved to Oxford Junction.

Mr. Close had been in the employ of the Milwaukee railroad for 40 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Delmar Mershon, and Mrs. Stanley Leslie, one son, Clifford, Oxford Junction, and one sister, Mrs. George Preston, Anamosa. Son, Glenn, preceded him in death.
