Funeral service for Mrs. Charles Barker was held this Wednesday from Smykil home for funerals. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.

Mrs. Barker died early Monday morning after suffering a stroke at her home in Anamosa last Friday.

Hulda Myrtle Smithson, only daughter in a family of seven children, was born to Thomas and Sarah Smithson April 3, 1882 in Jackson county, Iowa. Her mother passed away when she was only seven years old.

On August 22, 1897 she was married to Charles C. Barker. Ten children were born to this union. Her husband and two children preceded her in death.

When her oldest son was five years old they moved to Anamosa, where she remained the rest of her life.

She was a member of the Methodist church.

She is survived by eight children: John and Thomas Barker, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Etta Hughes, Clinton; Mrs. Ethel Cook and Mrs. Wilma Miehl, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Helen Lui and Clarence Barker, Anamosa.

Two brothers, George Smithson, Sabula, and Albert Smithson, Perry, and 13 grandchildren also survive.

Rev. E. A. Schlaman conducted the service. Pall bearers were Don Scheib, Roy Skeels, Lloyd Gray, Richard Nichols, Niel Norton and Norman Roeburg.
