Rose Mardorf, 69, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. Private family services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Goettsch Funeral Home. You may also sign the guest book or leave a condolence at www.goettschonline.com. Public visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. We request that you wear a mask when entering the funeral home as social distancing cannot always be assured. Surviving are her husband, Clifford; five children, Wendy (Doug) Feldman, Cedar Rapids, Frank (Jennifer) Rudolf III, Monticello, Jason (Eunice) Mardorf, Cedar Rapids, Valarie (Lee) Mardorf, Culver City, Calif., and Leslie (Fidencio) Diaz, Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jane Barnts, Monticello, Karen (Larry) Goss, Cedar Rapids, and Barb Salser, Minneapolis, Minn.; two brothers, James Simmons, Scotch Grove, and Mike (Jeannie) Simmons, Cedar Rapids; and her best friend, Sharon Scott. She was preceded in death by all her parents; six brothers, Lynn, John, Delbert, Bill, Doug and Rich Simmons; and a sister, Shary Jensen. Rose Mary Simmons was born July 21, 1951, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Delbert and Mae Barnes Simmons. She was raised lovingly by her uncle Wilbur and aunt Etta Simmons, she called Wilbur "Dad." Rose graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the Class of 1969. She attended nursing school and worked as a waitress before getting married. She married Frank Rudolf Jr. on Dec. 29, 1973. The couple made their home in Sheldahl and Marshalltown. He preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1979. Rose returned to the Monticello community, where she married Clifford Mardorf on June 19, 1995. They farmed north of Monticello and Rose also worked at J.T. Hadherway. Rose enjoyed her pets and watching football, especially the Hawkeyes, flowers, gardening, going fishing and sketching. Rose was a kind and caring person and was always ready to help a friend. She loved spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.
