OXFORD JUNCTION--Funeral services for John F. Sobotka, 92, Oxford Junction, were held Monday, Oct. 8, at 9:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart church, Oxford Junction. Rev. Joseph Kissling officiated at the service. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.
Pallbearers included Roy Sobotka, Melvin John, John Coon, Cedar Rapids, James John, Stanley Coon and Jerry Roubinek, Omaha, Nebr.
He was born April 2, 1870, at Libecimy, Bohemia, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sobotka. He came to the United States when a young man.
He was married to Anna Stratilik on Jan. 11, 1897, at St. Mary's Catholic church, Oxford Junction. For a number of years he was engaged in farming near Oxford Junction. Before his retirement 18 years ago he was employed by the Milwaukee railroad.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lumir and Arnold, both of Oxford Junction; two daughters, Mrs. Geraldine John, Oxford Junction; and Mrs. Carol Johnson, Knox, Ind.; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Pauline.
