Otho F. Hughes, 65, Anamosa, died Saturday, Aug. 11, at his home following a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. Lee Hobel will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Green Center cemetery.

Pallbearers include Russell Ellison, Chester Ellison, Herbert Sams, Barney Barnes, Walter Farrington and Norman Seeley.

He was born Sept. 30, 1896, son of Joseph F. Hughes and Mary Clymer Hughes, near Morley. He was married to Jennie Sams, Dec. 3, 1919, at Davenport. Couple lived in Morley and Cedar Rapids before moving to Anamosa where they had made their home for the last 30 years.

He worked for the Jones county road maintenance department until ill health forced his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie; one daughter, Norma, Mrs. Everett Thomas; two sons, Ivan Hughes and Norman Hughes, all of Anamosa; two brothers, Leslie Hughes, Olin, and Emmett Hughes, Savanna, Ill.; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, two sisters and one brother.
