Thomas Moran, 82, retired farmer, died at 8:20 o'clock Thursday morning, April 15, at his home in West Cascade, following a long illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, April 17, from St. Martin's church with the Rev. Fr. Watters officiating. Burial was made in Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Moran was born May 7, 1860, in Jones county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Moran. In 1889 he was united in marriage with Miss Catherine Mulevhill at Temple Hill. They farmed at Onslow until 1920, when they removed to Cascade. Mrs. Moran passed away May 10, 1841. A son also preceded him in death.

Eight children survive: Mrs. Joe Crowley of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Joe Delay, Castle Grove; Mrs. Tim Ralston, Maquoketa; James of Onslow; Mrs. Joe Kenneally, Mrs. Gerald Dunne and Louis of Cascade, and one son Joe, with the armed forces, stationed at Camp Shelby, Miss. One sister, Mrs. Kate Kiburz of Cedar Rapids, also survives, and several grandchildren.

Casket bearers were: Leo Hardeman, Leo Skahill, Bill Tallman, Joe Herard, Ed Kurt, Tom Lowham, Steve Green Jr., and Austin Alexander.
