Funeral services for William H. Pool were conducted in the Methodist church at Martelle, on Wednesday afternoon, November 24, at 2 o'clock, by Rev. M L. Hill of Lisbon, a former pastor, assisted by Rev. Samuel Noah, pastor of the Christian church.

Male quartet, composed of Guy C. Martin, Harry Holcomb, William D. Frantz and Merritt Kyle, accompanied by Mrs. Gladys Barner on the piano, sang two selections.

George Barner, assisted by members of local K. P. lodge, concluded the services at the church with the ritual of the lodge.

Interment was in the Monmouth cemetery.

William Harrison Pool was born in Wytheville, Virginia, on January 29, 1870, and passed away Sunday morning, November 21, 1943, at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 23 days.

He was the second child of John and Margaret Pool. When but a small child, the family moved to Monmouth, Iowa, where they resided for several years.

He later moved to Martelle, where the major portion of his life has been spent, and where he resided at the time of his death.

He followed the trade of a carpenter until recent years, when he changed his occupation to that of pump and windmill repair work.

He was the father of four children, two of whom preceded him in death. Surviving are two daughters, Edna, Mrs. Fred Richards, Moline, Ill., and Florence, Mrs. Ray Burnett, Mount Vernon, Iowa.

He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Ora Himes, Central City; Mrs. Laura Dye, Monmouth; Kyle Pool, Wyoming; Ray Pool, Kansas City, Mo., and several nieces and nephews; also three granddaughters and one grandson, who is in the service of his country.

He was a member of the Methodist church of Martelle, for many years. He served in official capacity with honor and confidence for several years.

He was also a member of the K.P. lodge at Martelle.
