Funeral service for Lloyd H. Lowry, who died at Springville last Friday, was held at the Smykil funeral home in Anamosa Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. J. K. Delahooke in charge. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.
Lloyd Lowry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lowry, was born Dec. 10, 1898 at DeWitt, Iowa. His youth was spent in the community of his birth and he graduated from DeWitt high school. Upon completion of a business course in Cedar Rapids he joined the staff of the Merchants National bank in that city. He later came to Anamosa to work in the Niles and Watters bank as cashier. When that institution closed he went to Des Moines where he was affiliated with the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. He later returned to Anamosa where he was affiliated with the newly organized Citizens Savings bank.
He was married to Miss Maude Beaman of Anamosa, Aug. 24, 1924. To the couple three children were born, two of whom survive.
Mr. Lowry was a member of the Anamosa Methodist church; a member of the American Legion post, having served as both local and district commander. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and Eastern Star of Anamosa, having served as Master and Worthy Patron of these organizations. He was also a member of the order of Mystic Shrine.
Survivors are his wife, who is confined to the hospital at Oakdale, Iowa; his two sons, Lloyd jr., and John Richard; five sisters, Mrs. Elmer Oesterborg and Mrs. H. S. McDonald, both of DeWitt; Mrs. F. C. Rock and Mrs. M. A. Carlson, Grand Mound and Mrs. J. M. Yergey, Aredmore, Penn. One son, Allen, died in infancy and one brother also preceded him in death.
