Walter K. Pearson, 85, resident of Anamosa for 47 years and former treasurer of Jones county, died at Mercy hospital Thursday evening after a long illness. Funeral service was held at Smykils funeral home Sunday, Oct. 17, with Rev. H. E. Dalrymple officiating. Casketbearers were Alva E. Barber, Frank Cooper, Robert Deyo, William Helbring, John Ronan and Charles Ryan, all of Anamosa.
Mr. Pearson was born near Springville Feb. 21, 1858. He was married in 1884 to Miss Ida Carbee, Springville, and they moved to Anamosa in 1886. He was deputy treasurer of Jones county from 1900 to 1906, and treasurer from 1906 to 1918. Following this time he was assistant cashier of Citizen's Savings bank until his retirement in 1935.
Survivors include his wife, one son W. Leigh Pearson, clerk of the district court, and two grandchildren.
