OXFORD JUNCTION--Funeral rites for Vit Blizek, 90, were held last Thursday from the Hayden Funeral home at 2 p.m. Rev. Fred C. Maurer officiated. Quartet of women, consisting of Mrs. D. J. Meade, Mrs. Louis Ingwersen, Mrs. J. Marley Hall and Mrs. A. E. Hodoval sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Ernest Schwab.

Pallbearers were Frank Koranda, John Burda, Frank Nowachek, John Carstensen, George Vacek and Victor Tatak. Burial was in Mayflower cemetery.

Mr. Blizek died early Tuesday morning at the Friendly nursing home in Cedar Rapids where he had been taken two months ago because of failing health.

He was born in Czechoslovakia, June 15, 1853, and came to America when a young boy, making his way alone and finding employment in Chicago, for a time, then coming to Oxford Junction where he engaged in farming.

He was united in marriage to Anna Wasoba, Nov. 10, 1876. He was retired and had lived in Oxford Junction for more than 30 years. He was a member of the New Era Knights of Pythias and the Z.C.B.J. lodges.

His wife, one daughter and an infant son preceded him in death. He is survived by one son, Anton, Oxford Junction; and a daughter, Mrs. L. E. Brackney, Baton Rouge, La.

Persons attending funeral from out of town were Mrs. Brackney, Mrs. Rose Wasoba and Mrs. E. T. Barker, DeWitt; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Blizek, Maquoketa, and Mrs. Myrtle Smith and Mrs. J. H. Rhoads of the Friendly nursing home in Cedar Rapids.
