Funeral service for John D. Westphal, 57, Anamosa, who died at his home Wednesday evening after several weeks' illness, will be held at the Smykil Funeral home, Sunday at 2 p.m.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Westphal, Germany, was born May 15, 1883 at Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and came to America when he was 15-years-old.

Mr. Westphal was married to Ella Grabbe on March 8, 1905. For the last 21 years he has been a guard at the Men's reformatory. He is a member of the Modern Woodman lodge.

Mr. Westphal is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Robert Deyo, Anamosa; and four sons, Marvin, Olin; Julius, Howard and Harold, all three of Anamosa.
