23 January 1964 - The Anamosa Eureka

Glen Linden Thompson, 89, Anamosa, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, at his home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Anamosa. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery.

Rosary will be recited Friday, Jan. 24, at 8 p.m. at the McNamara Funeral home, Anamosa.

He was born Aug. 29, 1874, son of Henry Thompson and Emma Burlingham Thompson, Jordons Grove, Linn County. He was married Dec. 24, 1901, to Mary Parker.

He had lived his entire life in Linn and Jones counties. He was employed by the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad before his retirement. He was a member of St. Patrick's church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; four sons, Hubert R. Thompson, Cedar Rapids; LeRoy Thompson, Gaithersburg, Md.; Charles Thompson and Clifford Thompson, Anamosa.

Three daughters, Irene, Mrs. Arnold Volkmann, and Josephine, Mrs. Robert Lackwood, both of Cedar Rapids, Florence, Mrs. Dale Stickley, Central City; 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bird Atwood, Anamosa, and Mrs. Laverne Craft, Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by two children.
