OXFORD JUNCTION--Final rites for Mrs. Emma Thorn were held Monday afternoon in the English Lutheran church at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Fred C. Maurer had charge of the service and the hymns, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", "Beautiful Dreamer" and "Silently Now", were sung by a quartet of women, consisting of Mrs. Louis Ingwersen, Mrs. J. D. Meade, Mrs. Palmer Vaughn and Mrs. Lula Curtain, accompanied by Mrs. Ernest Schwab.

Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Frank Hodoval, Mrs. John Macgregor, Mrs. Emile Burian and Mrs. Fred Harms.

Those serving as casket bearers were Frank Hodoval, Henry Shimerda, William Klahn, John Miller, Fred Harms and G. E. Leffingwell, Lost Nation. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

Mrs. Thorn died Saturday at 4 a.m. after a three weeks' illness. As Emma Otsen. she was born in Sabula, Feb. 7, 1869, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Otsen, who came to Oxford Junction three years later.

Mrs. Thorn lived here for 71 years. She was married to Max Holz, who died in 1910. In 1911 she married William Thorn, who preceded her in death in 1940.

Mrs. Thorn was a member of the English Lutheran church, where she was active in the work of the aid society, member of Peerless chapter O.E.S., of which she had been treasurer for last 16 years, resigning at the December meeting; of the White Shrine of Davenport; Lilac Camp of R.N.A. and a charter member of the Birthday club.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Rogers, Davenport, and Mrs. Doretta Hodoval, Oxford Junction; three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Fletcher Smiley, Davenport. One son, Harry, preceded her in death.
