December 30, 1943 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral service for Mrs. Marion J. Tallman, 57, who died at her home at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, following a lingering illness, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick's Catholic church in Anamosa. Father J. A. McMahon will officiate. Rosary will be said Thursday night at the McNamara Funeral home. Interment will be in the Catholic cemetery at Castle Grove.

Frances Evelyn O'Rourke, daughter of Sarah and Lorenz O'Rourke, was born April 1, 1866, at Castle Grove. She attended the Castle Grove school and received normal training at Visitation college, Dubuque. She taught in various schools of this community for eight years after her graduation.

She married Marion J. Tallman, Morley, on Nov. 20, 1912. With the exception of several years when they lived in the Castle Grove community, they have lived in Anamosa since their marriage.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Anamosa and the Catholic ladies' guild.

Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. E. E. Johnson, Cedar Rapids; one grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. O. W. Hardy, Phillip, S. Dak.; Mrs. Milo Tuttle, Alice and Mayme O'Rourke, Monticello; and five brothers, Edward, John, Louis and William, Monticello, and Charles, Highmore, S. Dak. One brother, James, preceded her in death.

Mr. Tallman is employed by the Jones County maintenance department.
