Funeral service for Commander H. Shifflett, 87, who died at his home in Anamosa Tuesday, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Loder Funeral home. Rev. E. A. Schlaman will be in charge. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery.

Commander H. Shifflett was born in Linn county, Missouri, Oct. 18, 1856. He had lived in the Anamosa community for 26 years.

Surviving him are his children, Mrs. W. W. Carey, Greenwood, Ark,; B. E. Shifflett and O. E. Shifflett, Anamosa; Mrs. G. E. Burroughs, Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. W. F. Knifong, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. James Carouthers, Walnut, Kan.; Mrs. Thomas Barbee, Lake Leed, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
