Chris Hucker, age 47, died Monday, December 14, 2020 at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha following a battle with cancer.
Private family services will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church Hopkinton on Friday, December 18, 2020 with interment in the Hopkinton Cemetery, with Military Honors. The service will be live streamed on the Sacred Heart/ St. Luke’s Facebook page. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 3 until 7 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
Mask’s must be worn and fitted properly over the nose and mouth at all times to enter the funeral home or church. Social distancing standards need to be strictly observed.
Surviving is his wife Andrea and their children, Sean, Addison, Lucy and Donavon, all of Hopkinton, his mother, Patricia Hucker, Hopkinton, his siblings, Susan Hucker, Dyersville, Michael (Kristin) Hucker, Hopkinton, Jon (Janeen) Hucker, Lester Prairie, MN. his uncle William Hucker, Muscatine, aunt and uncle Keith and Janice Tackett, his, mother and father-in-law, Jules and Phyllis Uldrich, Earlville, and in-laws, Wes Uldrich, Sarah (Todd) Lewin, Monica (Jason) Mitts, Carmen (Chase Forkenbrock) Uldrich, many nieces and nephews and 6 god-children, James Hucker, William Hucker, Kallyn Henney, Jessica Mitts, Jovie Felton, Ameila Leytem. He was preceded in death by an infant son Andrew in 1993, his father D.J. (Don) Hucker in 2016 and an infant sister, Mary Elizabeth.
Christopher Sean Hucker was born May 30, 1973 at Manchester, Iowa. He was the son of Don James and Patricia Ann Schlimmer, Hucker. He graduated from the Maquoketa Valley Schools in 1991. He served in the United States Army from 1991 until 1994. On his return from service he farmed with his father and brother Mike on the family farm and worked construction with Don Felton, Pat Britt, and Shane Leytem. In March of 1998 he started working for the Delaware County Secondary Roads department as a motor-grader operator. Chris married Andrea Uldrich on April 18, 1998 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Earlville.
Chris was active in the Hopkinton Community. He served on the Hopkinton Fire Department and the Ambulance Service. He served at the director of the Hopkinton Ambulance Service and was the Assistant Fire Chief from 2005 until 2015.
