James W. Gentry, Anamosa, died in the Monticello hospital Tuesday, June 8. He was the father of Mrs. Dave Smith, Richmond, Calif., and made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Smith when Mr. Smith was a guard at the Reformatory before moving to California about a year ago.

Funeral service was held June 11 at Smykil funeral home with Rev. H. E. Dalrymple conducting the service. Burial was made in Winterset.

Mr. Gentry was more than 91 years old, having been born March 31, 1852, at Winterset. He married Eliza Porter April 10, 1879. She died in 1911.

Also surviving are two brothers, Fred Gentry, Holland, Minn., and Earl Gentry, East Tawes, Mich.
