OLIN--Charles L. Cruise, 70, died Saturday, Jan. 2., at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell Funeral home, Olin, Tuesday afternoon at 1 pm. with Rev. Boston of the United Brethren church officiating.

Mrs. Leon Stivers sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Goodnight and Goodmorning" accompanied by Mrs. H. E. Stuart at the piano.

Casketbearers were Oscar Kinler, Ed Kreger, Harry Girard, Hans Rohwedder, Frank Starry and John Gordon. Burial was in Diamond cemetery.

Charles L. Cruise was born in Hale township, Jones county, on Dec. 9, 1872, and spent his early life in that vicinity. He spent a few years in western Iowa and at Lost Nation, finally coming to Olin.

On Sept. 30, 1908 he was married to Mae Huston, Hale, and they had three sons, Verlan, Irvan and James. He was a member of the United Brethren church.

Surviving are his three sons, all in the armed service; three brothers, Ben and Wallace, Hale, and Will, Olin; and a number of nephews and nieces. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
