Funeral service for Ludwig Johannes Ulferts, 37, who died in his sleep early Monday morning, July 19, were held Wednesday afternoon, Rev. H. L. Buesing officiating. Smykil's Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ulferts was born at Castle Grove, July 14, 1906. He received a country school education before enrolling for two years of college at Waverly. May 29, 1929, he completed a bookkeeping course at Wartburg college.

He married Miss Clara Dirks Dec. 16, 1931 and to this union three children, Alfrieda, 11, LaVern, 9, and Dorothy Ann, 5, were born.

Except for one year's residence in Castle Grove, the Ulferts have lived the last 12 years at their present home in Cass township, about a mile northeast of Anamosa.

Mr. Ulferts entered Mayo clinic several months ago and underwent a serious operation.

He returned home after a convalescent period and during the weeks before his death felt very little pain.

Besides his wife and children Mr. Ulferts is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ulferts, and two brothers, Emil and Carl, all of Anamosa.

Mr. Ulferts was a member of the Lutheran church.
