The Monticello Express, Monticello, Iowa, Thursday, July 25th, 1901

Mrs. Ursula Prader, the widow of the late Charles Prader, died at the Sanitarium in Anamosa, last Monday the 22nd inst. For a year or more Mrs. Prader had been in ill health, but her condition was not considered serious until she began to show failing powers of mind a few months ago. Her friends believed that she might recover, but their hopes were groundless. She was given attention at the homes of both of her brothers, but there was continued failure of mind with growing weakness of body. It was considered best that she go to a sanitarium or hospital, and her physician so advised. Accordingly she was taken to Anamosa by her son a month or two ago. Her relatives visited her frequently, and during her last days her sister was with her constantly. Death released her from her mental torments and physical infirmities at noon. The remains were prepared for burial, and brought to Monticello, the same evening.

Mrs. Prader was the daughter of the late Rudolph Kaspar. She was born in Switzerland, April 26th, 1854, and came to the United States with her parents when a small child. All of her childhood days were spent in Richland Township. She also lived there several years after her marriage to Mr. Prader in 1873. She came to Monticello more than 18 years ago. Mr. Prader was engaged in the drug business. Mrs. Prader was of a business turn of mind, and successfully conducted the same business after her husband’s death, until its destruction by fire. She was a woman of a good deal of force and determination.

She is survived by one child, Mr. D. C. Prader, who is a graduate pharmacist, and now engaged in the drug business at Monticello. The funeral services were held at the late residence of the deceased, yesterday afternoon, Rev. D. S. Staebler, formerly pastor of the M. E. Church, and Rev. C. C. Warner officiating.
