SCOTCH GROVE--Mrs. Herbert French, 90, former resident of Scotch Grove, died Monday, Jan. 21, at the home of a daughter in Hollywood, Calif.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 25, at 2:30 p.m., at the Scotch Grove Presbyterian church. Mrs. Edwin Helgens served as organist. Interment was in the Scotch Grove cemetery.

Pallbearers included Paul E. Paulsen, Robert Buol, Robert Zirkelbach, Howard Zirkelbach, Edwin Helgens and Donald Grom.

Devaney mortuary, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Anna McKean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Beatty McKean, early settler of the Scotch Grove community. She attended Scotch Grove school, Lenox college, Hopkinton; and Business college, Cedar Rapids. She taught school a number of years before her marriage.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Laura Hockett, Burbank, Calif.; and Mrs. Fronie Schweinder, Rockwood, Tennn.; a son, Rev. Porter French, Chester, Ill., who officiated at the funeral service; several grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Nelle Davis, Washington, D.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband a number of years ago.
