December 20, 1962 - The Anamosa Eureka

OXFORD JUNCTION--Mrs. Mary Collins, 90, Oxford Junction, died Friday evening, Dec. 14, at the home of her daughter. She had suffered a fractured hip Oct. 19, and was hospitalized for several weeks.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m., at the Hayden Funeral home. Rev. Kenneth Perinchief officiated at the service. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

Pallbearers included Ted Urich, Fred Pegorick, Joe Kulhavy, August Hansen, John Carstensen and James Clapp.

Mrs. Otto Koranda and Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen were vocalists. Mrs. Hayden was organist.

She was born May 15, 1872, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Souhrada, Czechoslavakia. She came to the United States and to Oxford Junction with her parents when she was 8 years old. She had made her home in Oxford Junction.

She was married to George Collins in 1893. Couple made their home on a farm near Oxford Junction for many years. Mr. Collins preceded her in death in 1940.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Freeman Ethridge; one granddaughter, Mrs. Rita Stang, Iowa City; a half brother, Michael Souhrada, Oxford Junction, and two great grandchildren.
