Stephen Douglas Soper died Kennewick, Wash., July 3. Funeral service was conducted Monday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at the Mueller Funeral chapel by Dr. Robert A. LaMott of the Methodist church. Mrs. Vane Wilder sang "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."

Mr. Soper was born in Jones county, March 8, 1863, the second son of George and Margery Ryan Soper. He was one of a family of 13 children. He was married Dec. 31, 1884, to Margaret May. To this marriage where born a daughter, who died in infancy, and two sons, Hubert D., who lives in Kennewick, Wash., and Stephen W., Willow Creek, Ore.

Early part of his life was spent in Jones county. They later moved to South Dakota, where the family resided for 25 years. Mr. and Mrs. Soper returned to their home in Anamosa for a few years and four years ago they moved to Kennewick to be near their elder son, Hubert.

Survivors are one brother and three sisters, all living in Anamosa; 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Two nephews, A. L. and H. E. Reymore, and a niece, Mrs. Charles E. Ridley, all of Willow Creek, also survive.
