5 October 1961 - The Anamosa Eureka

OXFORD JUNCTION--Ernest J. McKinstry, 59, Oxford Junction, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 3, at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 9, at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. E. A. Piper, Oxford Junction, will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Anamosa.

Pallbearers include L. L. McCreight, Otto Koranda, Freeman Ethridge, John Miller, James Furne, Henry Hunwardsen.

He was born April 26, 1902, son of Ernest McKinstry and Elsie Robison McKinstry, Anamosa. He was married Aug. 21, 1921, to Irene Wink, Anamosa.

He lived in Anamosa until 1951 when he moved to Oxford Junction. He was engaged in the freight and transfer business until 1951. Since moving to Oxford Junction, he worked as a carpenter on the bridge crew of the railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Irene; three sons, Curtis, Fairbanks, Alaska, Stewart, Anamosa; John, at home; two daughters, Dorothy, Mrs. Paul McDowell and Beverly, Mrs. LeRoy Simmons, both of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Others include three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Meade, Oxford Junction; Mrs. C. K. Butler, Springville; Mrs. Sydney Smith, Pueblo, Colo.; five brothers, Leonard, Sacramento, Calif.; Gail, Michigan City, Ind.; Cecil, Alamedo, Calif.; Earl, Fulton, Ill.; and James, Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
