The Anamosa Journal, Iowa, Thursday, October 28th, 1920

Ella Corwin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Corwin, was born Sept. 11, 1883 in Delaware County, Iowa. Following a four year residence in the state of New Jersey with her parents, she came with them when nine years old to Jones County. She was married Sept. 20, 1910 at Anamosa to C. S. Peet of Martelle. One daughter, Miriam Lucille, was born to this union. The family moved in March 1918 to Edinburgh, Texas, and Mrs. Peet’s death occurred there Oct. 22, 1920.

Mrs. Peet very patiently endured an illness of over twenty months duration. She was taken sick with influenza a year ago last February at the time when the flu was waning. She never recovered her health after that attack and during the last eight months of her life was unable to leave her bed. Her mother, Mrs. C. S. Corwin, of this city went to Edinburgh last February and remained to give her the constant and devoted care of a loving mother.

She is survived by her husband and the daughter and mother, by five brothers and one sister. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother and her death leaves an irreparable loss in the home. She was a member of the M. E. Church at Martelle where her membership was taken out during her residence of the family in that locality. With the removal to the house in the south, those church ties, remained steadfast.

The funeral services were conducted from the Anamosa M. E. Church by Rev. B. S. Bailey of Lisbon, a former pastor assisted by Rev. S. V. Williams the local pastor. Interment was at the Norwich Cemetery. A Quartette composed of Messrs. Gould and Monroe and Mesdames Belknap and Wilson rendered beautiful and appropriate music.
