SCOTCH GROVE--August Ladehoff, 57, prominent farmer of Scotch Grove community, collapsed and died at the wheel of his car Sunday evening, Jan. 24, while returning from a visit with friends at Amber.

After his car stalled in a snow drift, Ladehoff had walked some distance for help and had also assisted in pushing the car.

Born at Clinton Aug. 30, 1886, he came to this vicinity when a young man and was married to Edna Hoffman Feb. 1, 1911.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Rudy Oltmann, Scotch Grove; two sons, Dale and John, at home; six sisters, Mrs. Henry Rickels, Scotch Grove, Mrs. Minnie Frye, Montana, Mrs. Tillie Brokaw, North Dakota, Mrs. Helen Topping, Monticello, Mrs. Kate Hudson, Marshalltown and Mrs. Charles Neal, Amber; two brothers, Fred, Washington, and Joe, Onslow; and two grandchildren.

Service was held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral home, followed by services at the Sand Hill Lutheran church. Rev. Paul T. Gutnecht officiated and burial was in Oakwood cemetery.
