CENTER JCT.--Funeral rites for E. W. Lewis were held in the Center Junction Methodist church Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. R. C. Scott officiating.

Burial was made in the North Madison Pioneer cemetery, east of town.

Casket bearers included A. G. Smith, Grey Dreibelbis, Fred Preas, Harry Chase, Arthur Wilcox and Peter Prahm.

Hymns were sung by Mrs. R. G. Mead, accompanied by Mrs. Arthur Wilcox.

Eugene Lewis, was born June 30, 1856, at Key West, Canada, the son of Phineas B. Lewis and Sara Patterson Lewis and was the last to survive in that family. In 1878, he married Martha Plank at Wyoming. Their only child died in infancy and Mrs. Lewis preceded her husband in death in 1934.

Mr. Lewis worked at the carpenter trade for many years and later farmed.

He had been in ill health for a number of years and died in this community June 22.

He is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Alveretta Ferguson, Center Junction, and Mrs. Mabel Tomlinson, Iowa City; and one nephew, Fred Lewis, Center Junction.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral services were Lee and Hugo Bowersox and Mrs. A. Edgerton, Davenport, and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Tomlinson, Iowa City.
