Mrs. Emma Eliza Lake, 88, longtime Jones county resident, died Wednesday afternoon at her home in Cass township following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cass Congregational church with Rev. H. E. Dalrymple officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church. Beam and Miller Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Delaware county, Ohio, on Aug. 27, 1853, Mrs. Lake came to Jones county with her parents when she was a child. The family settled in Cass township and Mrs. Lake has spent the major portion of her life in that community.

Her husband, George Lake, preceded her in death. She is survived by three children, Arthur, Miss Ida and Miss Georgia, at home; a sister, Miss Hattie Ketcham, Cass township; and two brothers, Elmer Ketcham, Cass township and James Ketcham, Owego, N.Y.

Funeral service for Mrs. Emma Ketcham Lake, 88, who died Wednesday afternoon at her home in Cass township after a long illness, was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Cass Congregational church with Rev. Homer E. Dalrymple in charge. Interment was in Cass Center cemetery.

Beam and Miller Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lake, eldest daughter of the late John E. and Martha Wheaton Ketcham, was born in Delaware county, Ohio, on Aug. 27, 1853. In the summer of 1867 her parents and their family came to Iowa in a covered wagon and settled on a farm in Cass township where she grew to womanhood.

She was united in marriage Jan. 20, 1873, to George W. Lake whose occupation was farming. Of the six children born to this union, three survive: Arthur, Ida and Georgia, at home, who were with her at the time of her death. William George died in infancy; Milton M. died Feb. 10 at his home in Enid, Okla., and a daughter, Mrs. Harriet Wright, died last July 6 at her home near Owego, N.Y.

Besides her son and two daughters, Mrs. Lake is survived by one sister and two brothers: Miss Harriet Ketcham, Cass township; James Ketcham, Owego, N.Y., and Elmer Ketcham, Cass township nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Lake became a member of Cass Congregational church early in life and had always retained her membership there with the exception of one year and a half when she, with her husband and family, lived near Adair. Mr. Lake died in Adair on Dec. 11, 1882.
