Irvin C. Sievers, 63, of rural Wyoming, passed away at Cedar Rapids on May 5 following a farm accident at this home. Irvin was born on June 3, 1916, at Moscow, IA, the son of Peter and Sophie Petersen Sievers. He graduated from Wyoming High School. On May 10, 1942, he was united in marriage to Roberta Winchip at rural Olin.
Irvin served with the Army in WWII for three years, serving in the Aleutian Islands. When he returned home he began farming southwest of Wyoming where they farmed until semi-retirement last year.
Irvin was a member of the Wyoming Methodist Church, Wyoming American Legion Post #259, Keystone #206 Masonic Lodge of Wyoming, he served as a local 4-H leader and on the county extension council. He served three years on the Midland School Board and was serving on the Jones County Board of Review and the Wyoming Cemetery Board.
Irvin is survived by his wife, Roberta, one son, Gary of Wyoming; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Nolte (Kathleen) of Las Vegas, NV; his parents Peter and Sophie Sievers of Wyoming, five grandchildren and one brother, Melvin of Wyoming, IA.
Services will be held on Friday, May 9, at 2 p.m., at the Wyoming Methodist Church. Rev. Loren Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in the Wyoming Cemetery and Military services will be by the Wyoming American Legion Post #259.
