25 December 1941 - The Anamosa Journal

MARTELLE--Last rites for Frank Joseph Mallie, 22, who died Thursday, Dec. 18, as the result of blood poisoning, were held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock from Smykil's Funeral home in Anamosa.

Rev. J. K. Delahooke, First Methodist church pastor, was in charge of the service. Burial was at the Bohemian cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Committal service was held at the grave by the Knights of Pythias lodge of Martelle of which Mallie was a member.

Born on Feb. 18, 1919 south of Cedar Rapids in Linn county, he was the son of Bahmuil and Anna Mallie. Ten years ago he moved with his family to the Peet farm southeast of Martelle where the family has lived since that time. He attended the Martelle school and was baptized in the Reformed church as a child.

His death came suddenly after infection set in following an injury suffered while he was working on the farm.

Youth is survived by his parents; one brother, Edward, at home; a grandmother, Mrs. James Mallie, Mount Vernon, and a grandfather, Joseph Havlik, Cedar Rapids.
