AMBER--Funeral service for Mrs. James E. Gray, 53, who died Thursday at Mercy hospital in Anamosa, was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Amber Presbyterian church.

Rev. C. L. Windsor, assisted by Rev. W. P. Nichols, Wyoming, officiated and burial was in Amber cemetery. Casketbearers included Merle Buckner, J. F. Husmann, Grover Preston, Lee Crain, Gene Porter and Roscoe Lincoln.

Mrs. Gray's death followed pneumonia which set in after a major operation.

Born as Clara Mae Russell, daughter of William and Cora Belle Russell, on Aug. 19, 1888, at Vermillion, S.D., Mrs. Gray came to Iowa with her parents when she was a small child. She grew to womanhood in Jones county and on Sept, 28, 1904, she was married to James E. Gray.

Of their seven children, the four who survive with their father, are: Ivan, Mount Pleasant; Russell and James, at home; Mary Elizabeth, Olin. She also is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ella Boots, her step-father, Ellis Boots, both Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. William Milroy, Mrs. El Weich and Mrs. William Myers, all Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Clyde Boots, North Dakota; William and Hebert Boots, Cedar Rapids, and Eugene Boots, Mason City; and six grandchildren.

She was an active member of the Amber Presbyterian church which she joined in 1912.
