OLIN--William D. Denny, World war veteran, died Friday morning at the Veterans' hospital, Des Moines, after a week's illness. Funeral service was Monday and burial was in the Mount Calvary cemetery, West Liberty.

He was born in 1895 near Shoals, Ind., and served with the A.E.F. on the Verdun front during the first World war, being honorably discharged in May, 1919. In 1929 he was united in marriage to Helen Barrie at West Liberty, and in 1933 they moved to a farm near Olin, which has since been his home.

Surviving are his wife and three children, his mother, Mrs. Rachel Denny, Shoals, Ind.; four brothers, Otis and Paul, Shoals; Floyd, Indianapolis, and Carl, Anamosa; two sisters, Mrs. James Gibson, Oden, Ind., and Mrs. William Atkinson, Vincennes, Ind.; four nieces and one nephew.

Rev. P. J. Behan officiated at the service and Campbell's Funeral home, Olin, was in charge of arrangements. Members of the Olin American Legion post were in charge of the grave ceremony.
