The Eureka, Anamosa, Iowa, February 24th, 1857

DIED

On Thursday, the 18th, suddenly, R. GILTHRAP.
The day previous he was out and harnessed up his horse for the purpose of hauling water. He has suffered with chills for five years; came to this place last spring with hopes he would, by a change of climate, get well; but not so, he had the chills here more or less ever since he came, and it is supposed that he had a congestive chill Wednesday evening, he having refused to have any physician. The family retired to bed as usual, and about five o’clock his wife heard him breathe harder than common, and got up immediately and spoke to him, but he answered her not-as he was then dying.
