Funeral services were held for Helen T. Marek, 55, of Maquoketa on Monday, March 12, at the United Methodist Church, Oxford Junction. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Heath of Baldwin-Monmouth Methodist Church officiated. Carson Funeral Home, Maquoketa, was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Marek died Thursday, March 8, at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport.

She was born April 29, 1923 near Oxford Junction to Joseph and Vinnie Tyrrel Kulhavy. She married D. P. Marek on August 21, 1947 in Anamosa and they were married for 27 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Joella Chew, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Michelle Jaynes, Des Moines, and Ellen Marek, Maquoketa; one son, Durward Marek, DeLeon Springs, FL; her father, Joseph Kulhavy, Oxford Junction; one brother, J. R. Kulhavy, Davenport; two sisters, Mrs. June Mowry, Lowden, and Mrs. Esther Woeber, Homestead, FL.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
