8 February 1940 - The Anamosa Journal

Charles Arthur, 55, Anamosa shoemaker, was found dead in bed Wednesday morning. Death was due to apoplexy, according to the physician who attended him. Mr. Arthur had been ill since about Jan. 1.

Complete funeral arrangements had not been made as The Journal went to press. Rites will be held at the St. Mark's Episcopal church. Beam & Miller Funeral home will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Charles Arthur, five sons and six daughters. Sons are Harlan, Detroit, Mich.; Clifford, Detroit, Mich.; Charles, Anamosa; and Max and Gene, Anamosa. Daughters include Mrs. Lemoyne Warner, Abilene, Texas; Mrs. William Wessels, Center Junction; Mrs. Willard Dayhoff, Anamosa; and Pauline, Gloria and Bertha, at home. One brother, Clifford, Detroit, Mich., also survives.
