CENTER JCT.--Funeral rites for Samuel K. Thompson, 89, Center Junction's oldest citizen, who died Jan. 31 in the home of his nephew, S. G. Thompson, were held in the S. G. Thompson home, at 1:30 o'clock Saturday. Rev. George Schrader, Onslow, and Rev. Abram Alyen conducted the service. Burial was made in the Scotch Grove cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lyle, Lyman and Dick Thompson, Glen Rastede and Marvin and Ernest Blohm.

Samuel Kilgore Thompson was born near Garden Plain, Ill., Sept. 2, 1850, the son of Moses and Isabel Kilgore Thompson. During his early manhood he farmed, taking his garden products and farm produce by team to Clinton merchants. He became a member of the Presbyterian church at Garden Plain and attended services until his hearing failed him.

In 1895, he came to Jones county with his sister, Susan, and they located on his farm south of Center Junction, where the home was made until she died in 1913. About fifteen years ago Mr. Thompson moved to Center Junction, where he since resided.

Mr. Thompson is survived by one brother, John, Monticello; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Alec and Ezekil, and his sister preceded him in death.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral service were Mrs. John Thompson, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Petersen, Monticello; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Slaymaker and Hazel Weber, Erie, Ill., Glen Rastede, Albany, Ill., Margaret Thompson, Hammond, Ind., and Mary Thompson, Fulton, Ill.
